Privacy Policy
AISbox is operated by P34 Systems. This policy explains what personal information we collect and what we do with it. Questions or requests: [email protected].
What we collect
- Your email address, which identifies your account.
- Payment records: Stripe's payment reference and the amount for each deposit and refund. Card details go straight to Stripe; we never see or store them.
- Your API key, stored only as a one-way hash.
- How you use the API: the watches you start (bounding boxes and MMSIs), the vessels you look up, the data delivered, and your charges and balance.
- Request logs: for every request to aisbox.net, your IP address, browser or client user agent, the referring page, the address requested, the response status and the time. We look up each IP address's approximate location and network with IPinfo.
AISbox sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. Stripe's checkout page sets its own cookies under Stripe's privacy policy.
Why we use it
To run the service and bill for it, issue refunds, answer your questions, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet our legal and tax obligations. We do not sell your information, and we do not send marketing email.
Who we share it with
- Stripe, which processes payments and refunds.
- IPinfo, which receives IP addresses to look up their location and network.
- Our hosting provider, which runs our servers.
To fetch vessel data, our servers send bounding boxes and vessel identifiers to our data sources. They go from our systems and are never linked to you. Some of these providers are outside Australia, including in the United States. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep account and usage information while your account is open. When you ask us to close it, we delete it, except payment and transaction records, which Australian tax law requires us to keep for 5 years. Request logs are kept for 12 months.
Security
All traffic is encrypted, API keys are stored hashed, and card details never reach our servers.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. Email us from your account's address. If you are unhappy with how we handle a privacy concern, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Changes
We will post any change here with a new effective date, and email you before a material change takes effect.
